From October 14 to 16, 2024, in Asunción, Paraguay, the VIII Jean Monnet Network BRIDGE Watch Seminar will take place, promoted by the Jean Monnet Network Policy Debate “BRIDGE Watch: values and democracy in EU and Latin America”, funded by the Erasmus+ Program of the European Union.
During the three-day event, various academic activities will be held in a hybrid format, with the participation of 16 speakers from 8 different countries: Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Spain, Italy, Mexico, Paraguay, and Peru.

The Seminar will take place at the Faculty of Law and Social Sciences of the National University of Asunción, in a hybrid format, with the participation of the following speakers:

● Diego Moreno Rodríguez – Member of the Inter-American Court of Human Rights and Representative of the Paraguayan Institute of Constitutional Law
● Jorge Enrique Bogarín González – Minister of the Superior Court of Electoral Justice of Paraguay
● Marcela Ríos Tobar – Former Minister of Justice and Human Rights of Chile (2022–2023)
● José María Costa Ruiz – Journalist and Director of Transparency and Public Access to Information of the Supreme Court of Justice of Paraguay
● María Elodia Almirón Prujel – Member of the Civil, Commercial, and Labor Court of Appeals of Central, Paraguay
October 15, 2024 | 16:30 (GMT–4) | Training Course “Building Democracy in Latin America”
The course, aimed at public agents, jurists, and interested parties, will be held at the Superior Court of Electoral Justice of Paraguay, exclusively in person. The classes will be taught by:

● Roberto Ruiz Díaz Labrano – Professor at the National University of Asunción, Paraguay
● Ena Carnero Arroyo – Professor at the National University of Trujillo, Peru

October 16, 2024 | 09:00 (GMT–4) | Workshop “Paths to Democracy: Lessons from the European Union and Latin America”
The Workshop will feature the presentation of scientific papers selected through a Call for Papers, in a hybrid format, and will take place at the Permanent Review Tribunal of Mercosur. The deadline for article submissions is September 26, 2024. Learn more through the link.
