Guidelines for Authors

Observatory On European Studies 

◦ The Observatory on European Studies is a dynamic and democratic communication environment regarding current affairs and news surrounding the European Integration in all different expressions and mainly its impacts and relations with Latin America. 

The Observatory prioritizes the publication of news, insights related to legal and political European events and brief comments about European jurisprudence that provoke the interest of the international community. It aims to encourage the publishing of experiences and good practices in the field of regional and European integration as a toll to develop the concepts of legal cooperation and international politics. 

Thereby, it aims to assist Latin American and European academics, lawyers and stakeholders to keep updated about the main events in European Union and in Europe in general, as well as its external repercussions, especially in the Latin America. 

◦ Rules for submission 

▪ The Observatory accepts submissions written in English, Spanish and Portuguese. ▪ The Observatory prioritizes unpublished texts. 

▪ Thematic Areas: 

• Current legal and political issues and news concerning European Union and Europe in general in all different expressions and/or its repercussions in relations between Europe and Latin America. 

▪ Authorship: 

• Submissions from academics, young researchers and members of civil society are welcome.
• Undergraduates texts will be accepted only in co-authorship with at least graduate students or professionals in that area. 
• Co-authorship will be limited to three authors. 

▪ Types of contribution: 

• The Observatory prioritizes the publication of news, insights related to legal and political European events. It also publishes brief comments about new European jurisprudence that provoke the interest of the international community. Texts outside these formats (publications, conferences and events, call for papers, etc.) may exceptionally be accepted upon prior analysis. 
• The opinions expressed in the texts are of only and exclusive responsibility of the author(s), not representing by any means the positions of the Latin American Center of European Studies. 

▪ Writing Guidelines: 

• The authors must send a short biography to be published (up to 20 words for each author). 
• Word limit in the text: 500 – 1.500 words 
• Font: Times New Roman, Size: 12 
• Line spacing: 1,5 
• Citations must be avoided. In case of extreme necessity, the references must be indicated in parenthesis immediately after the citation. Footnotes are not allowed. • Hyperlinks are allowed, as long as they are incorporated directly in the referenced text.
