The Observatory on European Studies is releasing a special edition of its Newsletter, dedicated to the topic “The European Union–Mercosur Agreement”. This edition brings together 26 contributions from researchers who participated in the EU Model Brazil, held in Brasília (DF), from September 25 to 27, 2025.
EU Model Brazil is a national simulation of the European Union that brought together young people from all regions of the country to experience, firsthand, the functioning of European institutions. The central theme of the simulation was the European Union–Mercosur Agreement, with emphasis on the Free Trade Chapter.
During the event, students prepared position papers representing different EU Member States. These documents were reviewed by the organizing team and formed part of the final evaluation, which awarded three participants with a trip to Brussels, where they will have the opportunity to see European Union institutions up close.
The Jean Monnet Policy Debate “BRIDGE Watch”, a project co-financed by the European Commission, supports and promotes academic initiatives focused on European integration and international dialogue. Demonstrating this commitment, this special edition of the Newsletter compiles the country reports prepared by the simulation participants, as well as the European Commission report, produced specifically for the occasion.
The texts presented do not reflect official positions of the represented countries, but express the students’ engagement, critical analysis, and creativity, which contributed significantly to enriching the debate on the future of EU–Mercosur relations.
The Observatory on European Studies is a dynamic and democratic communication platform dedicated to disseminating analyses and news on European Integration in its multiple dimensions, as well as its impacts and relations with Latin America.
