Colombian Yearbook of International Law publishes review of the BRIDGE Watch Report on Democracy in Latin America

The BRIDGE Watch project: Values and Democracy in the EU and Latin America celebrates the publication of an academic review dedicated to the report Democracy in Latin America, published in the Colombian Yearbook of International Law (ACDI), indexed in Scopus.

The review was written by Mario Matarrita Arroyo, a postdoctoral researcher at Pompeu Fabra University, Barcelona, Spain, and offers a critical and contextualized analysis of the BRIDGE Watch report, highlighting its methodological contribution, its comparative framework, and its relevance to the contemporary debate on democracy, the rule of law, and governance in Latin America.

The report Democracy in Latin America presents a comparative assessment of democratic quality in countries across the region based on three central pillars: representation and citizen participation; rights, freedoms, and social equity; effective governance and institutional capacity.

The publication of the review in a leading international journal in the field of International Law strengthens the academic projection of the report and confirms its relevance to the scientific and political debate on democratic challenges in Latin America and their connections with the values of the European Union.

Matarrita Arroyo’s analysis contributes to expanding interregional dialogue and enhances the academic impact of the BRIDGE Watch project, consolidating it as a space for qualified reflection on democracy, human rights, and EU–Latin America cooperation.
