At the invitation of the Department of International Law of the Organization of American States (OAS), Professors Aline Beltrame de Moura, co-coordinator of the Jean Monnet Network Policy Debate BRIDGE Watch project, and Naiara Posenato, coordinator of the BW Reports, participated as speakers at the commemorative edition of the 50th anniversary of the traditional OAS Course on International Law, held in Rio de Janeiro from August 4 to 6, 2025.
During the event, they gave a presentation on the activities of the BRIDGE Watch project to an audience composed of alumni from various editions of the course, many of whom currently hold prominent positions in governments, international organizations, universities, and civil society entities. The presentation highlighted the activities developed by the project, with an emphasis on the main results achieved. Among them, the findings and recommendations of the BW Reports on Democracy and the Rule of Law stood out, being highlighted as strategic tools for the analysis and formulation of public policies and for strengthening democratic governance in the region.
In addition to participating in the course, the professors took part in the 10th Joint Meeting of the Inter-American Juridical Committee (CJI), the OAS advisory body responsible for promoting the progressive development of international law and inter-American legal integration. On that occasion, they presented the results of the BRIDGE Watch project, emphasizing the recommendations contained in the reports. They submitted to the Committee proposals aimed at contributing to the drafting of guiding instruments, promoting shared standards, and fostering regulatory harmonization among Member States, thereby strengthening the Rule of Law and democratic governance, with a view to possible inclusion in future work agendas or specialized legal studies of the Committee.
