III JEAN MONNET NETWORK Meeting - Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México

Between March 28th and 30th of 2022 the Jean Monnet Network – BRIDGE project, financed by Erasmus Program + from European Union, is going to perform academic activities in association with Instituto de Investigaciones Jurídicas of Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México.

On March 28, 2022, at 10 am (MX time - GMT -05:00), the III Jean Monnet Network - BRIDGE Seminar will take place on the theme “Democracy and the protection of human rights in the European Union and Latin America"

Confirmed speakers: Ana María Guerra Martins, Judge at Human Rights European Court, Gautier Mignot, Ambassador of European Union in Mexico, Juan Luis Gonzáles Alcántara, Minister of  Nation Justice Supreme Court, Leticia Bonifáz Alfonzo, Expert of Committe for Elimination of Discrimination against Women – Cedaw from ONU, Sergio García Ramírez, Ex-judge of Human Rights Interamerican Court, Glória Ramirez, holder of Professorship UNESCO in Human Rights from UNAM and Damaso Morales, Coordinator of European Studies Center.

On the same day, at 4pm (MX time - GMT -05:00), there will be a virtual Round of Discussions on “Derechos humanos em América Latina y la Unión Europea: estúdios comparados” with the participation of the partner professors of the BRIDGE project and other guests.

The event will also feature the presentation of sixteen articles selected through Call for Papers. The two best articles will be awarded with the value of EUR 250 each. The Workshop presentations will take place on March 29 from 10am to 01pm (MX time - GMT -05:00), in a virtual mode.

Besides that, to finish the proposed activities, will be accomplished the formation Course about “The process of regional integration of the European Union and its impact on the provision of legal assistance on Latin America” that will be offered in person to employees of Centro Nacional de Derechos Humanos de la Comisión Nacional de Derechos Humanos, on Mexico City, and will be also open to external community.

The meeting is insert on the activities developed by Jean Monnet Network “Building Rights and Developing Knowledge between European Union and Latin America – BRIDGE”, Project financed by Erasmus Program + of European Union and is compound by Santa Catarina Federal University (Brazil); Law School of Lisboa University; Sevilha University (Spain); University of Milan (Italy); Nacional Autónoma University (Mexico); University of Buenos Aires (Argentina) and Rosário University (Colombia).
